The Incarnation — God Manifest in the Flesh

THE DEITY OF CHRIST — LECTURE 6

Introduction: The Fulfillment of God’s Eternal Purpose

From the beginning, the Scriptures have revealed:

  • There is one God
  • The Messiah is divine
  • The Word is eternal and God

Now we come to the central revelation of the Gospel:

The Word was made flesh

This was not an afterthought. This was not a change in God’s plan.

It was:

The fulfillment of what God had purposed from the beginning

  • Genesis 3:15 — the promise
  • Ephesians 3:11 — the eternal purpose

What was promised has now been revealed.

I. John 1:14 — The Word Was Made Flesh

“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”

The Scripture does not say:

  • The Word stopped being God
  • The Word became something else entirely

It simply declares:

“The Word was made flesh”

Meaning:

  • The eternal Word entered human existence
  • The invisible became visible
  • God was revealed in human form

As also written:

“God was manifest in the flesh” (1 Timothy 3:16)

II. Philippians 2:7 — Made in the Likeness of Men

“…but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”

This is how Scripture expresses it:

  • “made in the likeness of men”
  • not philosophical explanation
  • not speculative definition

Simply:

He was made as man

III. The Reality of His Humanity

The Gospel records show clearly:

  • He was born (Matthew 1:25)
  • He grew (Luke 2:52)
  • He hungered (Matthew 4:2)
  • He suffered (John 19)
  • He died

Therefore:

He was truly man

Not appearance only

Not illusion

Not partial

Real, complete human life

IV. The Reality of His Deity During His Earthly Life

At the same time, the same Jesus:

  • Forgave sins (Mark 2:5–7)
  • Was worshipped (Matthew 14:33)
  • Exercised divine authority
  • Is called God (John 1:1)

Therefore:

He is God

V. CENI — Establishing the Truth

Command (Direct Statements)

  • John 1:14 — Word made flesh
  • 1 Timothy 3:16 — God manifest in the flesh

Example

  • Jesus lived a full human life
  • Yet exercised divine authority

Necessary Inference

  • If He is truly man
  • And truly God

Then during His life on earth:

He is both man and God

VI. The Unity of Revelation — No Contradiction

The Scriptures do not present contradiction:

  • He is not “less God” when He became flesh
  • He is not “only man” during His life

The Bible simply presents both truths:

He was made flesh

He is God

And leaves them as they are.

VII. The Purpose of the Incarnation

Why was this necessary?

1. To Fulfill God’s Promise

  • Genesis 3:15

2. To Accomplish Redemption

Hebrews 10:5

“…a body hast thou prepared me”

3. To Be Born Under the Law

Galatians 4:4

“…made of a woman…”

4. To Reconcile Man to God

This is not speculation

This is fulfillment

VIII. After the Resurrection — Return to Glory

After His work on earth:

“…knowing that he was come from God, and went to God” (John 13:3)

“…sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Hebrews 1:3)

“…sat down on the right hand of God” (Hebrews 10:12)

The same One:

  • Came from God
  • Lived among men
  • Returned to God

IX. Apologetic — Guarding the Truth

❌ “ Jesus stopped being God”

  • No Scripture says this

❌ “ Jesus was only a man”

  • Contradicted by His works and worship

❌ “ Jesus only appeared human”

  • Contradicted by His life, suffering, and death

Scripture holds both:

True humanity

True deity

X. Spiritual Application — The God Who Came Near

This truth reveals:

  • God is not distant
  • God entered human life
  • God fulfilled His promise

Therefore:

Our faith rests on what God has done—not on human reasoning

Conclusion: The Revealed Work of God

The Scriptures declare plainly:

  • The Word was God
  • The Word was made flesh
  • God was manifest in the flesh
  • He lived, died, and rose again
  • He returned to God

Therefore:

Jesus Christ did not cease to be God, but was made flesh according to the Scriptures, fulfilling God’s eternal purpose of redemption.

  • Genesis 3:15 — pangako
  • Efeso 3:11 — walang hanggang layunin

I. Juan 1:14 — Ang Verbo ay Nagkatawang-tao

“At nagkatawang-tao ang Verbo, at tumahan sa gitna natin…”

Hindi sinasabi ng Biblia na:

  • Tumigil Siya sa pagiging Dios
  • Nagbago ang Kaniyang kalikasan

Ang sinasabi lamang:

“Nagkatawang-tao ang Verbo”

At gaya rin ng nakasulat:

“Ang Dios ay nahayag sa laman…” (1 Timoteo 3:16)

Ibig sabihin:

  • Ang Dios ay nahayag
  • Nakita
  • Naranasan sa anyong tao

II.

III. Ang Totoong Pagkatao ni Cristo

Makikita sa Ebanghelyo:

  • Siya ay ipinanganak (Mateo 1:25)
  • Siya ay lumaki (Lucas 2:52)
  • Siya ay nagutom (Mateo 4:2)
  • Siya ay nagdusa (Juan 19)
  • Siya ay namatay

Kaya malinaw:

Tunay Siyang tao

Hindi anyo lang

Hindi ilusyon

Kundi tunay na buhay ng tao

IV. Ang Totoong Pagka-Dios ni Cristo Habang Siya ay Nasa Lupa

Sa parehong panahon, ang parehong Jesus:

  • Nagpatawad ng kasalanan (Marcos 2:5–7)
  • Sinamba (Mateo 14:33)
  • May kapangyarihan ng Dios
  • Tinawag na Dios (Juan 1:1)

Kaya malinaw:

Siya ay Dios

V. CENI — Pagtatatag ng Katotohanan

Utos (Direct Statements)

  • Juan 1:14 — nagkatawang-tao ang Verbo
  • 1 Timoteo 3:16 — nahayag ang Dios sa laman

Halimbawa

  • Namuhay Siya bilang tao
  • Gumawa Siya ng gawa ng Dios

Kinakailangang Konklusyon

  • Kung Siya ay tunay na tao
  • At tunay na Dios

Sa Kaniyang buhay sa lupa:

Siya ay tao at Dios

VI. Walang Kontradiksyon sa Kasulatan

Hindi pinaghahalo ng Biblia ang ideya—

hindi rin nito pinaghihiwalay.

Ang ipinapakita nito ay:

  • Nagkatawang-tao ang Verbo
  • Ang Verbo ay Dios

At iyon ang katotohanan.

VII. Layunin ng Pagkakatawang-tao

1. Upang tuparin ang pangako

  • Genesis 3:15

  • Naging tao
  • Bumalik sa Dios

IX. Pagtatanggol sa Katotohanan (Apologetics)

❌ “ Tao lang si Jesus”

  • Salungat sa Kaniyang mga gawa at kapangyarihan

❌ “ Tumigil Siya sa pagiging Dios”

  • Walang talatang nagsasabi nito

❌ “ Mukhang tao lang Siya”

  • Salungat sa Kaniyang buhay at kamatayan

Ang Biblia ay malinaw:

Tunay na tao, tunay na Dios

X. Praktikal na Aplikasyon — Ang Dios na Lumapit sa Tao

Makikita natin dito:

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

“Jesus Called Us Brethren”

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog "Go and Tell My brethren" Text: “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” - Matthew 28:10 I. Introduction: The Significance of the Word "Brethren" After His glorious resurrection, Jesus could have referred to His disciples with any term—“servants,” “students,” or “followers.” But He chose the word “brethren.” This word carries weight. It reflects forgiveness, restored fellowship, and most importantly, a shared relationship with the Father. Why does Jesus now call His disciples brethren? What does that mean for us today? And how did we become worthy of such a name? II. Context and Background Let’s recall that before the crucifixion, His disciples deserted Him in fear (Matthew 26:56). Peter even denied Him three times. They failed Him at His darkest hour. Yet, after rising from the grave, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them—He calls them “My b...

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Romans 6:1-2 — The Deathblow to OSAS with One Simple Question "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? - Romans 6:1-2 Can You Keep Sinning and Still Be Saved? Paul Says: Absolutely Not! Some claim, “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS)—but what if one simple question from Paul demolishes that doctrine entirely? In  Romans 6:1-2 , the apostle confronts the dangerous logic that grace gives license to sin. His answer is sharp, unshakable, and Spirit-inspired. This short but powerful passage doesn’t just challenge OSAS—it delivers the deathblow. Ready to face the truth? Q: Who is speaking in Romans 6:1? A:  The apostle  Paul —a faithful Christian, divinely inspired. Q: Who does the word "we" refer to? A:  To  Paul and other Christians . Those already  saved ,  baptized , and  wal...
