The Second Coming — The Return of God Himself

THE DEITY OF CHRIST — LECTURE 17

Introduction: Who Is Coming Back?

The Bible does not end with the first coming of Christ.

It points forward:

To His return

But the question must be asked:

Who is returning?

  • A man?
  • A prophet?
  • A created being?

Or something far greater?

Scripture answers clearly:

The One who returns is the same One who possesses divine glory, authority, and judgment—God Himself.

THESIS: The Second Coming Reveals Christ as God in Glory

I. Titus 2:13 — The Great God Appearing

“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

A. “Glorious Appearing”

This is not:

  • hidden
  • symbolic

This is:
visible, divine manifestation

B. “The Great God and Our Saviour Jesus Christ”

Not two persons
One identity

Therefore:

The One who appears is called “the great God”

II. Matthew 25 — The Son as Final Judge

Matthew 25:31
“When the Son of man shall come in his glory… then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:”

A. Coming in Glory

Not earthly humility
But divine majesty

B. Sitting on the Throne

Authority
Judgment

C. Judgment of All Nations

“…before him shall be gathered all nations…”

This is universal judgment

Conclusion

The Son executes final judgment

But Scripture teaches:

Judgment belongs to God (cf. Deuteronomy 32:35–36; Ecclesiastes 12:13–14; Acts 17:31)

III. Acts 17:31 — Appointed Judge of the World

“…he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained…”

A. Judgment Is Certain

Not optional
Not symbolic

B. The Judge Is Christ

The resurrected One

Therefore:

Christ is the appointed Judge of all mankind

IV. The Divine Role of Judgment

Throughout Scripture:

Judgment belongs to God alone

Genesis 18:25 — “…Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

Yet:

Christ judges all

Conclusion

The Judge of all the earth:

is Christ

V. Revelation 1:7 — Universal Visibility

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him…”

A. No One Escapes This Event

Every eye
All people

B. Divine Manifestation

Not hidden
Not localized

This is:

God revealed in glory

VI. CENI — Establishing the Doctrine

Command

  • Titus 2:13 — Christ is called “the great God”
  • Acts 17:31 — Christ is appointed Judge

Example

  • Christ sits on the throne (Matthew 25:31)
  • Judges all nations

Necessary Inference

If:

  • Only God judges all
  • Christ judges all

Then:

Christ is God

VII. Apologetic — Answering Objections

❌   “Christ judges by delegated authority only”

Even if appointed:

The function remains divine

  • Universal judgment
  • Eternal consequences

No created being holds this authority independently

❌   “Second coming is symbolic”

Refuted by:

  • “every eye shall see him”
  • visible return
  • global event

❌   “Christ returns as a glorified man only”

Incomplete because:

He returns:

  • in glory
  • with authority
  • as Judge

These belong to God

VIII. Polemic — Refuting False Eschatology

❌   “Christ is not divine but returns as agent”

Impossible because:

He judges all
He receives universal recognition

❌   “Judgment is separate from Christ’s identity”

False because:

Judgment reveals identity

❌   “Christ’s return does not prove deity”

False because:

The role He performs:

  • belongs exclusively to God

IX. The Unity of First and Second Coming

First coming:

  • humility
  • sacrifice

Second coming:

  • glory
  • judgment

Same Person
Same identity

Therefore:

The One who was crucified is the One who returns in divine glory

X. Spiritual Application — Preparing for His Return

This is not theory.

This is reality

The Question Is Not “Will He Come?”

He will come

The Question Is:

Are you ready to stand before Him?

“…we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…” (2 Corinthians 5:10)

Conclusion: The Return of the Divine Judge

The Scriptures reveal:

  • Christ will return
  • Christ will be seen by all
  • Christ will judge all
  • Christ is called the great God

Therefore:

The Second Coming is not the return of a mere man—but the appearing of God Himself in glory and judgment.

Final Statement:

The One who will judge the world is Jesus Christ—and Scripture declares that this Judge is God.

I. Tito 2:13 — Ang Dakilang Dios ay Magpapakita

“…ang maluwalhating pagpapakita ng ating dakilang Dios at Tagapagligtas na si Jesucristo.”

A. “Maluwalhating Pagpapakita”

Hindi lihim
Hindi simbolo

Ito ay:

hayag at makapangyarihan

B. “Dakilang Dios”

Hindi dalawang persona
Kundi iisang tinutukoy

Si Jesucristo mismo

Kaya malinaw:

Ang babalik ay tinawag na “dakilang Dios”

II. Mateo 25 — Ang Anak Bilang Hukom

Mateo 25:31

A. Tiyak ang Paghuhukom

Hindi opinyon
Hindi simbolo

B. Si Cristo ang Hukom

Siya ang itinalaga

Kaya:

Si Cristo ang hahatol sa lahat

IV. Ang Paghuhukom ay Gawa ng Dios

Genesis 18:25
“…ang Hukom ng buong lupa…”

Ang Dios ang Hukom

Ngunit:

Si Cristo ang hahatol

Konklusyon

A. Walang Makakaiwas

Bawa’t mata
Lahat makakakita

B. Hindi Lihim

Hindi tago
Hindi limitado

Ito ay:

hayag na kapahayagan ng Dios

VI. CENI — Pagtatatag ng Katotohanan

Utos

  • Tito 2:13 — dakilang Dios
  • Mga Gawa 17:31 — Siya ang hahatol

Halimbawa

  • Uupo sa luklukan
  • Hahatol sa lahat

Kinakailangang Konklusyon

Kung:

  • Ang Dios ang hahatol
  • Si Cristo ang hahatol

Kaya:

Si Cristo ay Dios

VII. Apologetics — Pagsagot sa Pagtutol

❌   “Delegated authority lang ito”

Kahit ipinagkaloob:

Ang gawain ay nananatiling banal

Walang nilalang ang hahatol sa lahat

❌   “Simboliko lang ang pagbabalik”

Hindi tama dahil:

  • “makikita ng bawa’t mata”
  • hayag ang pangyayari

❌   “Tao lang Siyang babalik”

Hindi sapat dahil:

Siya ay babalik:

  • sa kaluwalhatian
  • bilang Hukom

Mga katangiang sa Dios lamang

VIII. Polemics — Pagtanggi sa Maling Aral

❌   “Ahente lang si Cristo”

Hindi pwede dahil:

Siya ang hahatol
Siya ang kikilalanin ng lahat

❌   “Hindi konektado ang identity at paghuhukom”

Mali dahil:

Ang paghuhukom ay nagpapakita kung sino Siya

❌   “Hindi patunay ng pagka-Dios ang pagbabalik”

Mali dahil:

Ang gagawin Niya:

  • eksklusibo sa Dios

IX. Iisang Cristo — Noon at Ngayon

Sa unang pagparito:

  • nagpakumbaba
  • naghandog

Sa ikalawang pagparito:

  • may kaluwalhatian
  • hahatol

Kaya:

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog What Must I Do To Be Saved? A Doctrinal Study in Biblical Salvation THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU MUST ASK — AND GOD HAS ALREADY ANSWERED IT There is no question more urgent, more eternal, and more personal than this: “What must I do to be saved?” This question is not a modern invention — it is already found in the New Testament , asked by real people in real moments of conviction, and answered by the Holy Spirit through the apostles of Jesus Christ. This means every truth-seeker today must stop looking elsewhere for answers. God has already spoken. His answer is final. His plan is clear. If the whole world knew God’s answer to this question, no one would be lost. So if what you’ve heard about salvation differs from what the Bible teaches — leave that group, that preacher, or that tradition immediately. “ If anyone preaches another gospel… let him be accursed. ” (Galatians 1:8–9) Are you ready to hear the real answer from...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

“Jesus Called Us Brethren”

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog "Go and Tell My brethren" Text: “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” - Matthew 28:10 I. Introduction: The Significance of the Word "Brethren" After His glorious resurrection, Jesus could have referred to His disciples with any term—“servants,” “students,” or “followers.” But He chose the word “brethren.” This word carries weight. It reflects forgiveness, restored fellowship, and most importantly, a shared relationship with the Father. Why does Jesus now call His disciples brethren? What does that mean for us today? And how did we become worthy of such a name? II. Context and Background Let’s recall that before the crucifixion, His disciples deserted Him in fear (Matthew 26:56). Peter even denied Him three times. They failed Him at His darkest hour. Yet, after rising from the grave, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them—He calls them “My b...
