Theological and Salvific Implications — Why the Deity of Christ Is Essential

THE DEITY OF CHRIST — LECTURE 15

Introduction: This Is Not Optional Doctrine

Up to this point, we have established:

  • Christ is declared God
  • Christ claims divine identity
  • Christ performs divine works
  • Christ is worshipped
  • Christ is explicitly called God
  • Christ possesses the fullness of the Godhead

Now we must answer the most important question:

Why does this matter?

Because the Deity of Christ is not:

  • abstract theology
  • philosophical debate

It is the foundation of salvation itself

THESIS: A Non-Divine Christ Cannot Save

I. The Nature of Sin — An Offense Against God

Sin is not merely:

  • a mistake
  • a moral failure

It is an offense against God

Psalm 51:4 — “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned…”

Implication

The offense is infinite in nature
Because it is against an infinite God

Therefore:

The payment must match the offense

II. The Necessity of an Infinite Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:14
“…the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God…”

A. “Without Spot”

Perfect sacrifice
Sinless

B. “Eternal Spirit”

Not temporal
Not limited

Infinite in nature

Conclusion

Only one who is:

  • sinless
  • eternal

can offer a sacrifice sufficient for all

A mere man cannot do this

III. The Mediator Between God and Man

1 Timothy 2:5
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”

A. True Man

Represents humanity

B. More Than Man

To mediate between:

  • God
  • and man

He must bridge both

Conclusion

Christ must be:

  • man (to represent us)
  • God (to reconcile us to God)

IV. The Sufficiency of Redemption

Acts 20:28
“…the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”

A. Whose Blood?

“God… with his own blood”

Implication

The sacrifice is divine

Conclusion

Redemption is not human effort
It is divine provision

V. The Exclusivity of Salvation

John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Why Only Christ?

Because only Christ:

  • is God
  • became flesh
  • offered Himself

A non-divine Christ:

  • cannot claim exclusivity
  • cannot accomplish redemption

VI. CENI — Establishing the Doctrine

Command

  • Christ is Savior (Titus 2:13)
  • Salvation is through Him alone (John 14:6)

Example

  • He offers Himself
  • He redeems

Necessary Inference

If:

  • Salvation requires divine sufficiency
  • Christ provides it

Then:

Christ must be God

VII. Apologetic — Answering Critical Objections

❌   “A perfect man could die for others”

This fails because:

One life cannot pay for all

The value is limited

❌   “God can accept any substitute”

This fails because:

God is just

Payment must be sufficient

❌   “Deity is not required for salvation”

This fails because:

Only God:

  • can forgive sin fully
  • can redeem universally

VIII. Polemic — The Danger of a False Christ

A false Christ is not harmless.

It leads to:

  • false hope
  • false salvation

❌   A “created Christ” cannot save

❌   A “lesser Christ” cannot redeem

❌   A “human-only Christ” cannot mediate fully

Therefore:

A wrong Christ produces a wrong salvation

IX. The Consistency of Redemption

Scripture consistently shows:

  • God initiates salvation
  • God provides the sacrifice
  • God accomplishes redemption

Therefore:

Christ must be God

X. Spiritual Application — The Weight of the Gospel

This truth demands response:

Salvation is not:

  • earned
  • shared
  • partial

It is:

completely dependent on who Christ is

Final Question

If Christ is not God:

  • Who paid for your sins?

If Christ is God:

  • Will you trust Him fully?

Conclusion: The Savior Must Be God

The Scriptures reveal:

  • Sin requires divine payment
  • Redemption requires infinite value
  • Mediation requires divine authority

Therefore:

Only a divine Christ can save

Final Statement:

The Deity of Christ is not merely a doctrine to believe—it is the very foundation of salvation. Without it, there is no sufficient sacrifice, no true mediator, and no redemption.

Ngayon, isa muling tanong:

Bakit mahalaga ito?

Dahil ang pagka-Dios ni Cristo ay hindi:

  • simpleng teolohiya
  • debate lamang

Ito ay usapin ng:

kaligtasan

A. Walang Kapintasan

walang kasalanan
sakdal o ganap

B. Walang Hanggan

hindi limitado
hindi pansamantala

Kaya malinaw:

Hindi sapat ang tao lamang

Tanging Dios ang may:

  • walang hanggang halaga
  • sapat na kabayaran

III. Tagapamagitan sa Dios at Tao

1 Timoteo 2:5
“…isang tagapamagitan… ang taong si Cristo Jesus”

A. Tao Siya

kinakatawan ang tao

B. Ngunit Higit sa Tao

Upang paglapitin ang:

  • Dios
  • tao

Kailangan Niya:

  • kalikasan ng tao
  • kalikasan ng Dios

Kaya:

Si Cristo ay Dios at tao (Colosas 2:9)

IV. Ang Katubusan ay Gawa ng Dios

Gawa 20:28
“…ang iglesia ng Dios, na binili niya ng kaniyang sariling dugo.”

Pansinin

“Dios… sariling dugo”

Ibig sabihin:

Ang kabayaran ay mula sa Dios mismo

V. Iisa Lamang ang Daan ng Kaligtasan

Juan 14:6
“…Ako ang daan, at ang katotohanan, at ang buhay: sinoma’y di makaparoroon sa Ama, kundi sa pamamagitan ko.”

Bakit Siya Lang?

Dahil Siya lamang:

  • Dios na nagkatawang-tao
  • naghandog ng sarili
  • nagbayad ng kasalanan

Kung hindi Siya Dios:

Wala Siyang karapatang sabihin ito

VI. CENI — Pagtatatag ng Katotohanan

Utos

  • Si Cristo ang Tagapagligtas
  • Siya lamang ang daan

Halimbawa

  • Siya ang naghandog ng sarili
  • Siya ang tumubos

Kinakailangang Konklusyon

Kung ang kaligtasan ay:

  • nangangailangan ng Dios
  • at si Cristo ang nagbigay

Kaya:

Si Cristo ay Dios

VII. Apologetics — Pagbuwag sa Maling Pananaw

❌   “Sapat na ang mabuting tao”

Hindi tama dahil:

Isang buhay ≠ kabayaran sa lahat

❌   “Pwede kahit sino ang maging tagapagligtas”

Hindi tama dahil:

Ang Dios ay makatarungan

Kailangan sapat ang kabayaran

❌   “Hindi kailangan ang pagka-Dios ni Cristo”

Hindi tama dahil:

Tanging Dios ang:

  • nagpapatawad ng ganap
  • tumutubos ng lahat

VIII. Polemics — Panganib ng Maling Cristo

Ang maling Cristo ay delikado.

Dahil nagbibigay ito ng:

  • maling pag-asa
  • maling kaligtasan

Ang Cristo na:

  • nilikha
  • mas mababa
  • tao lamang

ay:

hindi makapagliligtas

IX. Pagkakaisa ng Kaligtasan

Ang Biblia ay malinaw palaging ipinapakita na…:

Ang Dios ang:

  • nagpasimula ng kaligtasan
  • ang nag-alay ng sakripisyo
  • gumawa ng pagtubos

Ginawa ito ni Cristo.

Kaya:

Si Cristo ay Dios

X. Praktikal na Aplikasyon — Saan Ka Ngayon Tatayo?

Hindi ito teorya.

Ito ay personal

Tanong:

Kung hindi Dios si Cristo:

  • sino ang nagbayad ng kasalanan mo?

Kung Siya ay Dios:

  • pagtitiwalaan mo ba Siya?

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog What Must I Do To Be Saved? A Doctrinal Study in Biblical Salvation THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION YOU MUST ASK — AND GOD HAS ALREADY ANSWERED IT There is no question more urgent, more eternal, and more personal than this: “What must I do to be saved?” This question is not a modern invention — it is already found in the New Testament , asked by real people in real moments of conviction, and answered by the Holy Spirit through the apostles of Jesus Christ. This means every truth-seeker today must stop looking elsewhere for answers. God has already spoken. His answer is final. His plan is clear. If the whole world knew God’s answer to this question, no one would be lost. So if what you’ve heard about salvation differs from what the Bible teaches — leave that group, that preacher, or that tradition immediately. “ If anyone preaches another gospel… let him be accursed. ” (Galatians 1:8–9) Are you ready to hear the real answer from...

“Jesus Called Us Brethren”

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog "Go and Tell My brethren" Text: “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” - Matthew 28:10 I. Introduction: The Significance of the Word "Brethren" After His glorious resurrection, Jesus could have referred to His disciples with any term—“servants,” “students,” or “followers.” But He chose the word “brethren.” This word carries weight. It reflects forgiveness, restored fellowship, and most importantly, a shared relationship with the Father. Why does Jesus now call His disciples brethren? What does that mean for us today? And how did we become worthy of such a name? II. Context and Background Let’s recall that before the crucifixion, His disciples deserted Him in fear (Matthew 26:56). Peter even denied Him three times. They failed Him at His darkest hour. Yet, after rising from the grave, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them—He calls them “My b...
