ARE YOU IN THE CHURCH BUILT BY CHRIST?

Main Text: Matthew 16:18

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Beloved, my friend… allow me to speak to you not as an enemy, but as one who cares for your soul. I am not here to attack you. I am not here to argue with you. I am here to ask you something—something simple, yet something that may change everything about your life, your faith, and your eternity.

My friend… what church are you a member of?

Have you ever truly asked yourself that question—not just by name, but by truth? Who built that church you belong to? When did it begin? Was it established in the days of the apostles… or was it started by a man many years later?

And more importantly… can you find that church in the New Testament?

Pause for a moment. Think carefully.

If we open the Bible—not traditions, not history books, not what we were told—but the New Testament itself… will we find the church you belong to written there? Will we find its name? Will we find its teachings? Will we find the apostles worshiping in it?

Or… is it absent?

Beloved, this is not a small question. This is not about preference. This is not about what is familiar. This is about truth.

Because Jesus said, “I will build my church.” Not churches. Not many kinds. Not different versions depending on time or culture. He said—my church.

And He also said, “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Now let me ask you, my friend… do you believe Him?

Do you believe that the church Christ built still exists today? Or have you been led to believe—perhaps without realizing it—that the church disappeared, that it was lost, that men needed to restore or reinvent it?

If Christ’s church vanished… then did hell prevail?

Think about that.

If the church built by Christ no longer exists, then His promise failed. But can Christ fail? Can the Son of God speak and not accomplish what He has declared?

The Bible says in Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” He does not change. His word does not fail.

So if He built His church… and if hell cannot overcome it… then that church must still exist.

The question now becomes very personal.

Are you in it?

Or are you in something else?

My friend, have you ever taken the time—personally, honestly—to search the New Testament and identify the church that belongs to Christ? Not what someone told you. Not what a preacher said. But what the Word of God actually reveals.

In Acts 2:47, the Bible says, “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

Do you see that?

It is the Lord who adds. Not men. Not organizations. Not institutions built centuries later. The Lord Himself adds the saved into His church.

And in Ephesians 4:4, the Scripture declares, “There is one body…”

Only one.

And in Colossians 1:18, “He is the head of the body, the church…”

The church is the body. And in Ephesians 5:23, the Bible says, “Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”

Now follow this carefully, my friend.

If the church is the body…

and Christ is the Savior of the body…

then the church is not optional.

It is directly connected to salvation.

So who told you that the church is not important?

Who told you that it is enough to have a “personal relationship” with Christ while ignoring the very body He died for?

The Bible never separates Christ from His church.

Never.

And yet today, many are comfortable belonging to churches that cannot be found anywhere in the New Testament—churches with names unknown to the apostles, doctrines never taught by Christ, and origins traced not to Jerusalem in Acts 2, but to men… councils… movements… centuries later.

And my friend… you are not bothered?

You are not troubled by that?

You are not asking, “Why is my church not found in the Bible?”

Beloved, imagine if Abraham obeyed God based on what others said instead of what God commanded. Imagine if Noah built the ark according to his own design instead of God’s instruction. Imagine if Nadab and Abihu offered strange fire before the Lord—oh wait, they did… and God rejected it (Leviticus 10:1–2).

God has always been specific.

And God has always required obedience—not creativity in worship, not innovation in doctrine, but faithfulness to His Word.

So why, my friend, when it comes to the church—the very body of Christ—would God suddenly accept anything man creates?

Why would He?

Let me ask you plainly…

Did you examine the Scriptures to find the church of the New Testament?

Or did you simply accept the church you were born into?

Did you test it?

Did you compare it?

Or did you assume it must be right because it feels right?

Jesus said in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Search.

Not assume. Not inherit. Not follow blindly.

Search.

Because your soul is too valuable to be wrong about this.

Beloved, this is not about leaving something for the sake of leaving. This is about finding what is true. This is about returning—not to tradition—but to the Word of God.

The church we read in the New Testament is not hidden. It is there—clear, visible, defined by Christ, built in Acts 2, guided by the apostles, faithful to the doctrine of Christ.

And the Lord still adds to that church today.

But the question remains…

Will you seek it?

Will you be honest enough to ask, “Am I truly in the church built by Christ?”

Or will you remain where you are… simply because it is comfortable?

My friend, eternity is not built on comfort. It is built on truth.

And truth demands a response.

The gospel is clear. You must believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God (John 8:24). You must repent of your sins (Luke 13:3). You must confess His name before men (Romans 10:9–10). And you must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38), where the Lord adds you to His church.

Not a church of men.

His church.

And if you are a Christian who has drifted—who has settled into tradition without examination—this is your moment to return. To realign. To come back to the authority of Scripture.

Beloved… do not ignore this.

Do not delay this.

For the day is coming when we shall all stand before God—to receive the things done in the body (2 Cor. 5:10). And the question will be—what have we done? Did we seek to be added by the Lord into His church, ‘of which He is also the Saviour’ (Ephesians 5:23)? Or were we found in something else?

And so I ask you, one last time…

When you open the New Testament…

Can you find your church there?

IKAW BA AY NASA IGLESIANG ITINAYO NI CRISTO?

Pangunahing Talata: Mateo 16:18

Saliksikin.

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

“Jesus Called Us Brethren”

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog "Go and Tell My brethren" Text: “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” - Matthew 28:10 I. Introduction: The Significance of the Word "Brethren" After His glorious resurrection, Jesus could have referred to His disciples with any term—“servants,” “students,” or “followers.” But He chose the word “brethren.” This word carries weight. It reflects forgiveness, restored fellowship, and most importantly, a shared relationship with the Father. Why does Jesus now call His disciples brethren? What does that mean for us today? And how did we become worthy of such a name? II. Context and Background Let’s recall that before the crucifixion, His disciples deserted Him in fear (Matthew 26:56). Peter even denied Him three times. They failed Him at His darkest hour. Yet, after rising from the grave, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them—He calls them “My b...

How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? - Romans 6:1-2 Can You Keep Sinning and Still Be Saved? Paul Says: Absolutely Not! Some claim, “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS)—but what if one simple question from Paul demolishes that doctrine entirely? In  Romans 6:1-2 , the apostle confronts the dangerous logic that grace gives license to sin. His answer is sharp, unshakable, and Spirit-inspired. This short but powerful passage doesn’t just challenge OSAS—it delivers the deathblow. Ready to face the truth? Q: Who is speaking in Romans 6:1? A:  The apostle  Paul —a faithful Christian, divinely inspired. Q: Who does the word "we" refer to? A:  To  Paul and other Christians . Those already  saved ,  baptized , and  wal...
