Christian Women and the Veil in Prayer (Ch. 8)

A Bible Doctrinal Exposition of 1 Corinthians 11

CHAPTER 8

A Word of Exhortation

Doctrinal truth, no matter how airtight, must reach the heart. If it remains only in the mind, it risks becoming mere theory. Paul did not write 1 Corinthians 11 for scholars to debate but for brethren to obey. Therefore, after laying out the case from Scripture, creation, angels, nature, and universal practice, it is time to speak plainly:

…Brethren, what will we do with these things?

8.1 The Test of Obedience

James says, “Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). The head covering is one of those commands that reveals whether we are truly submissive to the Lord or whether we are seeking loopholes.

·        To dismiss it as cultural is to set aside apostolic authority.

·        To minimize it as trivial is to judge God’s Word by our own measure.

·        To obey it, however, is to confess that even in the smallest matters, Christ is Lord.

Obedience here is not about fabric but faith.

8.2 The Heart of Submission

The veil’s meaning is profound: it is a symbol of humility, of willing submission to God’s order. In a world that exalts self-expression, the covering proclaims: “Not my will, but Thine be done.”

When a woman veils herself in prayer, she is not exalting man. She is honoring Christ, who Himself submitted to the Father (1 Cor. 11:3). This is a beautiful confession, not a shameful burden.

8.3 The Danger of Contention

Paul anticipated quarrels: “But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God” (v.16).

Contention on this point reveals a deeper problem: pride. Some do not want to be told what to do, even by Scripture. But to resist God’s order is to resist God Himself.

Brethren, we cannot plead ignorance. The Word has spoken. To persist in resistance is not a matter of opinion but of rebellion.

8.4 Encouragement for the Faithful

To the sisters who faithfully veil in prayer — know that your obedience is precious in God’s sight. You are living testimonies of humility, order, and reverence. Though the world may scoff, heaven rejoices. Angels see your submission and glorify God.

To the brethren who teach and uphold this truth — do not grow weary. Though you may face ridicule, remember Paul’s words: “Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58).

8.5 A Word to the Doubtful

Some hesitate: “But is this really necessary?” The same question could be asked of baptism, the Lord’s Supper, or the command to sing without instruments. The real issue is not necessity but authority.

When God speaks, our only safe response is obedience. To delay or question is to stand on dangerous ground.

8.6 The Spiritual Dimension

This matter is not isolated from salvation. While one may not lose salvation for ignorance, willful rejection is another matter. Jesus warned: “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46).

The veil tests our hearts: will we honor Christ as Head, or will we elevate our reasoning above His Word?

8.7 Doctrinal Insight Box

Ø The veil tests whether we submit to God’s Word in all things.

Ø Obedience in small matters reveals the heart of true discipleship.

Ø Contention over the veil is not about cloth, but about pride vs. humility.

8.8 A Call to Repentance and Renewal

If you have set aside this teaching, repent. Confess before the Lord that you have followed culture instead of His Word. Begin again with a heart ready to obey.

To the church: restore this teaching in love, not with harshness, but with clarity and conviction. Let the world see that the people of God do not bend to fashion, but to Scripture.

8.9 Conclusion: The Path of Blessing

Brethren, the veil is not a burden but a blessing. It keeps us anchored in God’s order, distinguishes the church from the world, and glorifies Christ as our Head.

Let us not be hearers only but doers. Let us embrace the beauty of God’s order, even when the world mocks. For in the end, we seek not the approval of men but of God.

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.” (2 Thess. 2:15)

Cristianong Kababaihan at ang Belo sa Panalangin (Ch. 8)

Isang Doktrinal na Palalahad sa 1 Corinto 11

KABANATA 8

Huwag tayong maging tagapakinig lamang kundi maging tagatupad.

(2 Tes. 2:15)

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? - Romans 6:1-2 Can You Keep Sinning and Still Be Saved? Paul Says: Absolutely Not! Some claim, “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS)—but what if one simple question from Paul demolishes that doctrine entirely? In  Romans 6:1-2 , the apostle confronts the dangerous logic that grace gives license to sin. His answer is sharp, unshakable, and Spirit-inspired. This short but powerful passage doesn’t just challenge OSAS—it delivers the deathblow. Ready to face the truth? Q: Who is speaking in Romans 6:1?
