PREFACE

The purpose of this lecture series is simple yet vital: to let the Scriptures speak plainly on a matter that many today either neglect or dismiss—the wearing of the veil by Christian women in prayer.

Through the centuries, the people of God have struggled not only with false doctrines introduced by men but also with the temptation to reduce the commands of God to mere matters of culture, convenience, or opinion. This study is not born out of a desire to argue for traditions of men but out of a commitment to uphold the inspired Word of God, which alone is our standard of faith and practice.

In 1 Corinthians 11:2–16, the apostle Paul presents a teaching that is not cultural, temporary, or optional. His reasoning is rooted in headship, creation order, angelic witness, and the practice of all the churches of God. To dismiss such teaching as irrelevant is to misunderstand the authority of apostolic doctrine.

This work is presented in the hope of helping brethren see more clearly that the veil is not an incidental matter. It is a divine ordinance that manifests obedience, reverence, and submission to God’s eternal order. While the veil itself does not save, the heart that willingly submits to apostolic instruction demonstrates the kind of faith that abides in Christ.

It is also my prayer that this study will speak not only to members of the Lord’s church but also to those outside, who may be curious about what the Bible truly says on this subject. Let the Scriptures, not culture, not tradition, not human reasoning, be our guide.

May every reader approach these pages with the spirit of the Bereans—“searching the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11). If we are willing to be doers of the Word, not hearers only (James 1:22), then we will find in God’s instructions both clarity and blessing.

PAUNANG SALITA

Ang layunin ng seryeng ito ay simple ngunit napakahalaga: hayaan nating ang Kasulatan mismo ang magsalita nang malinaw tungkol sa isang bagay na sa panahong ito ay kadalasang binabalewala o itinatanggi—ang pagsusuot ng belo ng mga babaeng Kristiyano sa pananalangin.

Sa loob ng maraming siglo, ang bayan ng Diyos ay nakipagbuno hindi lamang laban sa mga maling doktrinang ipinapasok ng mga tao kundi pati na rin sa tukso na gawing usapin lamang na kultura, kaginhawahan, o opinyon ang mga utos ng Diyos. Ang pag-aaral na ito ay hindi nagmula sa pagnanais na ipagtanggol ang mga tradisyon ng tao, kundi mula sa matibay na paninindigan na itaguyod ang kinasihang Salita ng Diyos, na Siya lamang ating pamantayan ng pananampalataya at pamumuhay.

Sa 1 Corinto 11:2–16, inilahad ng apostol Pablo ang isang katuruan na hindi panlupa, hindi pansamantala, at hindi opsyonal. Ang kanyang pangangatuwiran ay nakaugat sa pagkakasunud-sunod ng pagkapang-ulo, sa kaayusan ng paglalang, sa mga anghel na saksi, at sa nakasanayang gawain ng lahat ng mga iglesia ng Diyos. Ang pagturing sa katuruang ito bilang walang saysay o hindi mahalaga ay isang maling pagkaunawa sa kapangyarihan ng doktrinang apostoliko.

Inilalahad ang gawaing ito na may pag-asang makatulong sa mga kapatid upang higit na makita na ang belo ay hindi isang bagay na di-mahalaga. Ito ay isang banal na utos na nagpapakita ng pagsunod, paggalang, at pagpapasakop sa walang hanggang kaayusan ng Diyos. Bagama’t ang belo mismo ay hindi nakapagliligtas, ang pusong kusang nagpapasakop sa turo ng mga apostol ay nagpapakita ng uri ng pananampalatayang nananatili kay Cristo.

Panalangin ko rin na ang pag-aaral na ito ay magsilbing tinig hindi lamang sa mga kasapi ng iglesia ng Panginoon kundi maging sa mga nasa labas, na maaaring mausisa kung ano nga ba talaga ang sinasabi ng Biblia tungkol sa paksang ito. Hayaan nating ang Kasulatan—hindi kultura, hindi tradisyon, hindi pangangatwirang pantao—ang maging ating patnubay.

Nawa’y lapitan ng bawat mambabasa ang mga pahinang ito na may diwa ng mga taga-Berea—“sinisiyasat araw-araw ang mga kasulatan, kung tunay nga ang mga bagay na ito” (Gawa 17:11). Sapagkat kung tayo’y handang maging tagatupad ng Salita, at hindi tagapakinig lamang (Santiago 1:22), matatagpuan natin sa mga tagubilin ng Diyos ang malinaw na pag-unawa at dakilang pagpapala.
