The Father, Son, and Spirit — Distinction Without Division

THE DEITY OF CHRIST — LECTURE 12

Introduction: One God, Clearly Revealed

At this point, the Scriptures have established:

  • There is one God
  • The Father is God
  • The Son is God
  • The Spirit is God

Now comes a necessary clarification:

How does the Bible present the relationship between the Father, Son, and Spirit?

Because two errors often arise:

  • Confusing them as the same person
  • Separating them into multiple gods

But Scripture does neither.

It presents:

Distinction without division

I. The Unity of God — One Name

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19)

A. “Name” — Singular

Not “names”

But “name”

This establishes:

One divine identity

B. Three Identified

  • The Father
  • The Son
  • The Holy Ghost

Distinctly named
 Yet under one “name”

II. The Distinction of Persons — John 17

In John 17, Jesus prays:

“Father… glorify thy Son…” (John 17:1)

A. Speaker and Listener

  • The Son speaks
  • The Father hears

This is not one person speaking to Himself

This is real distinction

B. Relationship Language

  • “Father”
  • “Son”

Indicates:

  • Relationship
  • Distinction

C. Shared Glory

“…the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” (John 17:5)

Pre-existence
 Shared divine glory

III. The Spirit — Distinct Yet Divine

“…the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost…” (John 14:26)

A. Sent by the Father

“…whom the Father will send…”

B. In the Name of the Son

“…in my name…”

C. Personal Action

  • Teaches
  • Reminds
  • Speaks

Not an impersonal force

A distinct divine person

IV. CENI — Establishing the Doctrine

Command (Direct Statements)

  • Matthew 28:19 — one name, three identified

Example

  • The Son prays to the Father (John 17)
  • The Spirit is sent (John 14:26)

Necessary Inference

If:

  • There is one God
  • The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are each described in Scripture as divine, and they are perfectly united, yet distinct.
  • They relate to one another

Then:

They are distinct, yet not divided

V. Apologetic — Guarding Against Error

❌   Modalism (One person, different roles)

Refuted by:

  • The Son speaking to the Father
  • Simultaneous interaction

Not one person changing roles

❌   Tritheism (Three separate gods)

Refuted by:

  • One “name” (Matthew 28:19)
  • One God consistently affirmed

Not three gods

❌   The Spirit as an impersonal force

Refuted by:

  • The Spirit teaches, speaks, sends

Personal, not impersonal

VI. Polemic — Refuting False Conceptions

❌    “Father, Son, and Spirit are the same person”

Refuted by:

  • John 17 — real communication

❌   “They are separate beings”

Refuted by:

  • Unity of name
  • Unity of divine identity

❌   “This is contradiction”

Refuted by:

  • Scripture presents both truths clearly
  • No contradiction, only limitation of human reasoning

VII. The Biblical Balance

The Bible does not explain beyond what is revealed.

It simply affirms:

  • One God
  • Distinct persons
  • Shared divine identity

No speculation required
 No philosophy needed

VIII. Consistency With the Entire Study

This aligns with all previous lectures:

  • Christ is God
  • The Father is God
  • The Spirit is God

Yet:

God is one

IX. Spiritual Application — Worship in Truth

True worship requires:

  • Knowing who God is
  • Worshipping according to truth

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

Therefore:

  • We worship one God
  • We recognize the Father, Son, and Spirit as revealed

X. The Weight of the Doctrine

This is not abstract theology.

It defines:

  • Who we worship
  • How we understand God

Conclusion: One God, Clearly Revealed

The Scriptures reveal:

  • One God
  • The Father is God
  • The Son is God
  • The Spirit is God
  • They are distinct
  • They are not divided

Therefore:

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are revealed in Scripture as distinct, yet united in one divine identity—without division.

Final Statement:

The Bible does not present confusion—but clarity: one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Spirit, distinct without division, united without contradiction.

Ang Ama, ang Anak, at ang Espiritu — Magkakaibang Persona Ngunit Iisang Dios

ANG PAGKA-DIYOS NI CRISTO — ARALIN 12

Panimula: Iisang Dios, Malinaw na Ipinahayag

Sa buong pag-aaral natin, malinaw na:

  • Iisa lamang ang Dios
  • Ang Ama ay Dios
  • Ang Anak ay Dios
  • Ang Espiritu ay Dios

Ngayon, may mahalagang tanong:

Paano ipinapakita ng Biblia ang Ama, Anak, at Espiritu?

Dahil may dalawang maling direksyon:

  • Pinag-iisa sila na parang iisang persona lamang
  • O hinahati sila na parang tatlong dios

Ngunit ang Biblia ay hindi nagtuturo ng alinman dito.

Ang ipinapakita ng Kasulatan:

May tatlong Persona ngunit Iisang Dios

I. Ang Pagiging Isa ng Dios — Iisang Pangalan

“Magsiyaon nga kayo, at gawin ninyong mga alagad ang lahat ng mga bansa, na sila’y inyong bautismuhan sa pangalan ng Ama at ng Anak at ng Espiritu Santo:” (Mateo 28:19)

A. “Pangalan” — Hindi Maramihan

Hindi “mga pangalan”
 Kundi “pangalan”

Ibig sabihin:

Iisang pagka-Dios

B. Tatlong Ipinahayag

  • Ama
  • Anak
  • Espiritu Santo

Tinukoy sa Kanilang pagkakakilanlan
 Ngunit sa iisang pangalan

II. Pagkakakilanlan ng mga Persona — Juan 17

Sa panalangin ni Jesus:

“…Ama… luwalhatiin mo ang iyong Anak…” (Juan 17:1)

A. May Nagsasalita at May Kausap

  • Ang Anak ang nagsasalita
  • Ang Ama ang kinakausap

Hindi ito isang persona lamang

Ito ay tunay na katangiang (distinct) pagkakakilanlan

B. Relasyon

  • “Ama”
  • “Anak”

May relasyon
 May magkaibang pagkakakilanlan na persona

C. Iisang Kaluwalhatian

“…ang kaluwalhatiang aking tinamo sa iyo bago ang sanglibutan ay naging gayon…” (Juan 17:5)

Umiiral na bago pa ang mundo
 May iisang kaluwalhatian

III.

(Juan 14:26)

A. Sinugo ng Ama

“susuguin ng Ama”

B. Sa Pangalan ng Anak

“sa aking pangalan”

C. May Gawain

  • nagtuturo
  • nagpapaalala

Hindi puwersa lamang
 May sariling kilos

IV. CENI — Pagtatatag ng Katotohanan

Utos (Direct Statement)

  • Mateo 28:19 — iisang pangalan, tatlong ipinahayag na may pagkakakilanlan

Halimbawa

  • Ang Anak ay nananalangin sa Ama
  • Ang Espiritu ay sinusugo

Kinakailangang Konklusyon

Kaya:

May distinct na pagkakakilanlan ngunit may pagkakaisa (unified)

V. Apologetics — Pag-iwas sa Mali

❌   Iisang persona lang (Modalism)

Mali dahil:

  • Ang Anak ay nananalangin sa Ama
  • May sabay na pagkilos

❌   Tatlong dios (Tritheism)

Mali dahil:

  • Iisang pangalan
  • Iisang Dios

❌   Ang Espiritu ay puwersa lamang

Mali dahil:

  • Siya ay nagtuturo
  • Siya ay kumikilos

VI. Polemics — Pagtanggi sa Maling Pananaw

❌   Pare-pareho lang sila bilang iisang persona

Mali dahil:

  • May malinaw na kanya-kanyang pagkakakilanlan

❌   Magkakahiwalay na nilalang

Mali dahil:

  • Iisang pagka-Dios

❌   May kontradiksyon

Mali dahil:

  • Ipinapakita ng Biblia ang parehong katotohanan
  • Walang salungatan

VII.

  • Iisang Dios
  • May kanya-kanyang pagkakakilanlan
  • May pagkakaisa

VIII. Pagkakaisa ng Buong Aral

Nakabase ito sa lahat ng ating napag-aralan:

  • Si Cristo ay Dios
  • Ang Ama ay Dios
  • Ang Espiritu ay Dios

Ngunit:

Iisa ang Dios

IX.

(Juan 4:24)

Kaya:

  • May iisang Diyos ang sinasamba natin
  • At kinikilala natin ang Ama, Anak, at Espiritu Santo bilang nahayag na iisang Dios

X. Ang Bigat ng Aral na ito

Hindi ito komplikadong pahayag.

Ito ay katotohanan ng Biblia

Na nagtuturo:

  • Kung sino ang Dios
  • Kung paano kilalanin at uunawain

Pangwakas: Iisang Dios, Malinaw ang Pagpapahayag

Malinaw ang sinasabi ng Kasulatan:

  • Iisa ang Dios
  • Ang Ama ay Dios
  • Ang Anak ay Dios
  • Ang Espiritu ay Dios
  • May kanya-kanyang pagkakakilanlan
  • Ngunit may pagkakaisa

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine Dec...

Grace, Faith, and Works

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Grace, Faith, And Works A Biblical Exegesis Of Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8–10 I. Introduction: Why This Study Matters Now More Than Ever In a religious world increasingly divided by theological confusion and denominational doctrines, few passages are more quoted yet more misunderstood than Ephesians 2:8–10 : “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” While this passage declares foundational truths about salvation, it has been misappropria...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

“Jesus Called Us Brethren”

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog "Go and Tell My brethren" Text: “Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” - Matthew 28:10 I. Introduction: The Significance of the Word "Brethren" After His glorious resurrection, Jesus could have referred to His disciples with any term—“servants,” “students,” or “followers.” But He chose the word “brethren.” This word carries weight. It reflects forgiveness, restored fellowship, and most importantly, a shared relationship with the Father. Why does Jesus now call His disciples brethren? What does that mean for us today? And how did we become worthy of such a name? II. Context and Background Let’s recall that before the crucifixion, His disciples deserted Him in fear (Matthew 26:56). Peter even denied Him three times. They failed Him at His darkest hour. Yet, after rising from the grave, Jesus doesn’t rebuke them—He calls them “My b...

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Romans 6:1-2 — The Deathblow to OSAS with One Simple Question "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? - Romans 6:1-2 Can You Keep Sinning and Still Be Saved? Paul Says: Absolutely Not! Some claim, “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS)—but what if one simple question from Paul demolishes that doctrine entirely? In  Romans 6:1-2 , the apostle confronts the dangerous logic that grace gives license to sin. His answer is sharp, unshakable, and Spirit-inspired. This short but powerful passage doesn’t just challenge OSAS—it delivers the deathblow. Ready to face the truth? Q: Who is speaking in Romans 6:1? A:  The apostle  Paul —a faithful Christian, divinely inspired. Q: Who does the word "we" refer to? A:  To  Paul and other Christians . Those already  saved ,  baptized , and  wal...
