“Be Thou Faithful Unto Death”

(Revelation 2:10)

A Command from the Lord Himself

Brethren, these are not just words of encouragement. They are the marching orders of our only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ. Revelation 2:10 says, “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” This was spoken to the church in Smyrna, a congregation under pressure, persecution, and poverty. The Lord did not promise them escape from suffering — He promised them life if they would remain faithful, even if faithfulness meant death.

Notice, it does not say, “Be faithful until you get tired.” It does not say, “Be faithful until you are old.” It says, unto death. Brethren, that means faithfulness for the rest of our lives, whatever comes. No pause button. No retirement from serving God.

Faithfulness Is More Than Believing

Some people think that as long as they “believe in Jesus,” they are already faithful. But James 2:19 says, “The devils also believe, and tremble.” Faithfulness is not mere belief; it is consistent obedience. Jesus said in John 14:15, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Faithfulness means doing what He says, even when it is inconvenient, even when it costs us friends, jobs, or comfort. It means holding to the truth when the world calls you old-fashioned. It means living for Christ in private, not just in public.

The Greek Word for Faithful

The word faithful here in the Greek is pistos — meaning “trustworthy, reliable, loyal.” This is not occasional loyalty, but proven reliability over time. Faithfulness is not proven when everything is easy. It is proven when we are tempted to quit, but we do not.

Brethren, can God count on you? Can He trust you to stand for Him tomorrow as you do today? That’s the question pistos is asking.

The Cost of Faithfulness

The Lord warned the Smyrnaeans, “Behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days.” Faithfulness may cost us something. It cost the apostles their lives. It cost Paul his freedom, his comfort, and eventually his head.

And if being faithful to Christ should one day cost us our freedom, our job, or even our life — would we still stand? Jesus did not hide the cost. He said in Luke 9:23, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

Faithfulness Guards Against Falling Away

Some start well but do not finish. Galatians 5:7 says, “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” The devil doesn’t mind if you start the race, as long as you do not finish it. That’s why Hebrews 3:14 says, “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.”

Brethren, it is possible to fall away. That’s why Jesus says, “Be thou faithful unto death.” Not faithful until discouraged. Not faithful until offended. Not faithful until the church fails to meet your personal expectations. Unto death.

The Crown of Life Awaits

The Lord’s promise is sure: “I will give thee a crown of life.” This is not a crown like kings wear, but the stephanos — the victory wreath given to those who finish the race. James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

There is no crown without a cross. No victory without a fight. No reward without endurance. Brethren, don’t let this world rob you of that crown. Hold fast what you have, that no man take it from you (Revelation 3:11).

A Personal Question for You

So I ask you: Are you faithful to the Lord right now? Not last year, not when you first obeyed the gospel — right now. If death came for you tonight, would the Lord find you pistos, trustworthy?

If you are not in Christ, you cannot be faithful to Him because you are not yet His. The Lord said in Mark 16:16, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Faith begins with belief, moves to repentance (Acts 17:30), confession of Christ (Romans 10:9–10), and baptism for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38). That’s where faithfulness begins — at obedience to the gospel.

If you are already a Christian but have wandered, the call is to repent and return. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The Lord wants you back, but you must decide.

Call to Action

Brethren, heaven is worth whatever it costs to get there. Hell is not worth whatever pleasure or comfort you cling to in this life.

Today, the Lord is not calling for half-hearted believers. He is calling for soldiers who will be faithful unto death. Will you be one? Will you stand firm no matter what? Will you finish the race?

Come — obey the gospel if you never have. Come — return to faithfulness if you have drifted. The crown of life is waiting, but only for the faithful!

“Maging Tapat Hanggang sa Kamatayan”

(Apocalipsis 2:10)

Pananaw at Paanyaya

The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS): A Biblical Exposé

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog The Origin and Error of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) A Biblical Exposé An Authoritative Study Using the King James Bible Introduction: A Question of Eternal Security The doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved (OSAS) asserts that once a person is saved, they can never lose their salvation, regardless of future behavior, apostasy, or rebellion. It is often linked with the phrase “eternal security” in Protestant theology. This study examines the origin, evaluates the biblical claims, and provides a full refutation using only the Scripture as the final and only authority. I. Historical Roots of OSAS (A Brief Context) Though many today assume OSAS to be an apostolic doctrine, its systematized form arose from John Calvin's doctrine of Perseverance of the Saints (TULIP), later popularized by Baptist theologians like Charles Stanley and modern evangelical churches. However, early church fathers such as Tertullian, Orige...

The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog     Next ⟶ The Promise and Importance of Christ’s Church "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." — Matthew 16:18 (KJV) Introduction The Church of Christ is not a product of human invention or denominational evolution. It is the fulfillment of a divine promise — a structure built not by human hands, but by the Lord Himself. In a time when religious confusion is widespread and thousands of conflicting churches exist, we must return to the simple, authoritative statement of Jesus: “I will build my church.” (Matt. 16:18) These words mark the beginning of a divine blueprint. This was not a vague intention, nor a mystical concept. Jesus was referring to a real, identifiable, and traceable body of people — the church — that He Himself would build, own, and preserve. “I Will Build My Church” — A Divine...

Restoration Movement: The Illusion of Rebuilding What God Preserved

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog There Is Nothing to Restore — Just Preach the Gospel A Doctrinal Exposition Affirming the Ongoing Existence and Perfection of God’s Church Introduction In recent centuries, many sincere believers have spoken of a "restoration movement"—the idea that the true church was lost to history and must now be recovered or re-established. But is this concept biblical? Does Scripture ever indicate that the church built by Christ (Matthew 16:18) would vanish, become corrupted, and need a future restoration? The answer, as revealed in the inspired Word of God, is  no . What God  planned before the foundation of the world  (Ephesians 3:9–11), what Christ  purchased with His own blood  (Acts 20:28), and what was  established in power on Pentecost  (Acts 2),  continues to exist today . While men may depart from the truth, the truth remains. And what we are called to do is not to restore, but to  pre...

The Church Built By Jesus Christ In The New testament - Lesson 1

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog ⟵ Previous Next ⟶ Lesson 1: The Church Planned by God Before the Creation of the Universe Key Passage: Ephesians 3:9–11 “ And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: ” Introduction The concept of the church is often misunderstood—even among believers. To many, it appears to be an afterthought, a temporary institution until Christ returns, or merely a human denomination among many. But the Scriptures teach otherwise. The church was not an accident. It was not a substitute for a failed plan. It was not an invention of man. It was part of God's eternal purpose , rooted i...

The Deathblow to OSAS

English 🇵🇭 Tagalog Romans 6:1-2 — The Deathblow to OSAS with One Simple Question "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? - Romans 6:1-2 Can You Keep Sinning and Still Be Saved? Paul Says: Absolutely Not! Some claim, “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS)—but what if one simple question from Paul demolishes that doctrine entirely? In  Romans 6:1-2 , the apostle confronts the dangerous logic that grace gives license to sin. His answer is sharp, unshakable, and Spirit-inspired. This short but powerful passage doesn’t just challenge OSAS—it delivers the deathblow. Ready to face the truth? Q: Who is speaking in Romans 6:1?
